Helping business owners have confidence in their technology.

Hi, I’m Joseph.
Nice to meet you!

After 15 years in IT, I’ve done everything from getting start-ups off the ground to managing technology for multiple Fortune 500 companies. I’ve noticed that most business owners have doubts about their technology:

“Am I paying too much?”
“Are my systems secure?”
“Is my tech helping grow my business or holding it back?”
“What am I missing that could bring down my business?”

I’m here to answer those questions. In addition to 15 years of real-world IT experience, I also have an MBA and own a brick-and-mortar small business (intersectfitness.com). I understand how to think like a business owner, not just an “IT guy”.

I’m on a mission to help business owners sleep better at night knowing their technology is secure, reliable, cost-effective, and helping their business soar. If this rings any bells, I would love to work with you.

I see consulting as a relationship, not just a business transaction, so your initial consultation and IT assessment is free!

What People Are Saying

“Joseph provided outstanding IT services to our company for 8 years, as the lead consultant on our account. He has a rare combination of deep technical skills and understanding, along with great personal and communication skills. He is a patient listener and will dive deep to find the issue and provide one or more solutions. Joseph is a pleasure to work with and was our "go to" guy for every answer we would need as well as the assurance our systems were up and running 24/7.”

— Bill Saint, President & CEO, Classica Homes - NHQ Gold Recipient

“Joseph's attention to detail and thoroughness to a project is the best I have worked with. He also looks out for the client in such a way that he will let you know what you need and don’t need. If there's another way to try to achieve the task in a more costly and timely manner he will figure it out.”

— John Tammaro, Owner & President, Simonini Homes - National Builder of the Year Recipient

“Joseph has been phenomenal through the transition of ownership in our office. We had to do our annual PCI compliance and were unsure where to start. Joseph was very professional, explained the extent of what needed to be done, and properly installed everything needed. He also helped streamline all of our technology interfaces in the office, and he continues to be available to answer all of our “techie” questions. We feel confident that our practice and patients are now protected to the fullest extent possible. We highly recommend Joseph and SteamGauge Consulting!”

So what’s a steam gauge?

I don’t just love IT; I also love aviation and a good analogy.

Every airplane cockpit has six essential instruments that pilots lovingly refer to as “steam gauges”. These six instruments have been around since the beginning of aviation and are foundational to safely flying any airplane. Even in the newest, high-tech airplanes, these time-tested gauges work even if everything else goes dark.

In a technology landscape that is constantly changing, evolving, and threatened by bad guys, SteamGauge Consulting takes a holistic approach to optimizing your IT environment using time-tested IT best practices so that your business stays flying!

The SteamGauge Approach

  • Speed

The airspeed indicator gauge makes sure you have enough speed to take off and shows if you’re going too fast. Is your technology up to speed or stalling out? Even simple things like slow computers can mean hours of lost time and productivity.

  • Strategy

The attitude indicator gauge shows the airplane’s orientation compared to the horizon. What’s on the horizon for your business? Will your technology get you there? Your technology strategy should align to your business strategy.

  • Cost-to-Benefit

The altitude indicator gauge ensures the airplane is flying at the right altitude, which is important for getting the best fuel effiency. Is your technology giving you the correct level of benefit for the cost? Are you spending on low-value-add tech, or maybe not spending enough on the right things?

  • Integration

When changing direction, mutlple parts of the airplane have to work together to turn smoothly. The turn coordinator gauge tells the pilot if something is off. Do your IT systems seamlessly work together to manage change and move your business toward its destination?

  • Best-Practices

Just like a compass, the heading indicator gauge shows the airplane’s direction relative to true north. Do your IT systems align to the “true north” of industry best practices?

  • Monitoring

When flying, it’s actually hard to tell if you’re rising or falling. The vertical speed indicator gauge shows it before you feel it. Do you actively monitor your IT environment to catch issues before you “nose dive”, or are employee or customer complaints your first indication?

Is your technology cruising or crashing? Let’s find out!
